In America we’ve moved towards a Green, Eco-Friendly lifestyle. If you love saving the earth we have some tips for you. There are many easy and simple ways to make your next move Green.
The Definition of Perfect Recycling - Donation
Even the best recycling processes lose some energy or materials. You lose nothing when you donate the item. Someone out there needs furniture or clothing you do not. Most areas have a re-use and donation center. One of our favorites is the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
Recycle the Junk
Some objects are great for recycling. They are in-demand and can even make you some money. Here is a short list of household objects you can recycle:
A few of these items can actually make you money. Ask local recycling companies about their rates on Aluminum for example.
Re-Use Storage Devices
In a way most movers are somewhat Eco-friendly. They re-use their trucks and equipment for many assignments. In the same way it is smart for you to use whatever storage you have. Don’t worry if you don’t have enough. Moving companies, including ours, are more than happy to help you with supplies. In some cases you can use these again across several moves.
Biodegradable Packing Materials
Some packing materials are biodegradable such as cardboard. Use these when possible. There are also earth-friendly versions of some products. Normal (non-plastic) rope also degrades in nature. Every little bit helps, that is what staying “Green” is all about.
Clean with Green
Either before or after your move you will likely have to clean a few messes. Buying earth-friendly products can help with this. Many sites have extensive guides in this area.
Create a Green Action Plan
We have said this before but it is still true. Having a plan for your next green move matters. So sit down and give it some thought. You may find out that it’s easier to stay green than you ever thought.
